Frequently Asked...page 2

Do you ever have trouble coming up with ideas?

Yes, sometimes I do. On the other hand, I have many ideas that I have thought of over the years that I have yet to start or realize.

What is your biggest challenge as an artist?

Finding the time to do everything. I always enjoy learning new things. There is a lot of artistic software out there that I would like to become familar with.

Do you use photographic reference?

Yes, usually for specific objects or for details I may not be familiar with. The landscapes, planets, Etc. are created "from scratch."

What is your digital painting process?

Once I have an idea I will do some quick preliminary sketches. Next I will look for photo reference if needed. I typically use Illustrator to get the precise outlines and shapes I will
need as well as experimenting with possible colors. I use Photoshop to do all of the painting and textures.

Do you miss painting with "traditional media"?

I do from time to time. I miss the smell of the paint and working with it directly! I'd like to paint "traditionally" again someday.
